Thornton Construction carried out a series of upgrades at two assisted-living compounds operated by the nonprofit Lifespace Communities, Inc. As part of the work, Thornton replaced all exterior glass envelopes with new impact resistant glass to meet updated hurricane standards. Thornton also renovated the interior of ten apartments totaling around 7,000 SF. Four apartments were first renovated at Abbey Delray South. Lifespace Communities was so pleased with the result, they requested additional work at their original complex Abbey Delray, where another six units were renovated.
The apartments are part of a residential retirement complex that offers open floor plans taking full advantage of South Florida’s environment, overlooking natural trails and gardens. These retirement communities promote wellness through interconnecting health centers, exercise areas, swimming pools, concert spaces, and classrooms with a goal to stimulate the mind as well as the body. A variety of care options are available depending on individual special needs.
