Overview
The Memorial Regional Hospital, South Wind Retrofit project consisted of hardening the exterior of the building to withstand hurricanes and projectile objects. The 6-story main patient tower was cladded with prefabricated EIFS panels, including new hurricane resistant windows and louvers. The lower 2-story pedestal had the CMU block reinforced by doweling in rebar the height of the façade and through each floor slab then filling the open cells with grout. All windows, doors, and louvers were replaced. The existing windows were demolished in the interior, and a new window opening was created to tie in to the new exterior panels.
