The project scope is to convert an abandoned detention center into a mental health diversion facility. The existing building consists of seven stories; the first two levels consist of offices and common spaces (i.e. cafeteria, gymnasium, library, crafts, etc.) The third floor is strictly a mechanical space. The fourth through seventh levels are former detention cells, now being converted to overnight rooms. Interior finishes are also being changed to provide a ‘warmer’ facility environment. The renovations include limited structural modifications, expansion of some rooms, and the complete refurbishment / replacement of the MEP / FP / FA and Security systems. A new underground fire main is being extended along the north street side of the project and the courtyard area is also being upgraded to be an integral part of the rehabilitation process.
