Interior and exterior renovations were completed across its three multi-story buildings under the purview of the county’s General Obligation Bond. The original Shenandoah Middle School was built in 1942, therefore preserving its rich history was of the utmost importance to Thornton.
The largest area of work involved the window replacement and HVAC upgrades. Other scope of work included: HVAC replacement; chiller replacement; window and exterior door replacement; structural repairs and concrete restoration; re-roofing; aluminum-covered walkway replacement; storm drainage installation; fire sprinkler, water, and gas piping replacement; security alarm enhancements; life safety improvements; elevator repairs; electrical and plumbing renovations; and miscellaneous finishes. Due to the sensitive work environment around the student population, safety, security, and coordination was of paramount importance to the success of the project.
