Overview
Two mirrored, two-story, ground-up additions were constructed against symmetrical corners of the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) facing its central plaza. The additions had to perfectly match the existing architectural elements. One addition offers a pediatric oncology unit of various patient rooms on the ground floor. This unit was tied into existing clinical space which was also renovated. The other addition includes a new MRI suite on the ground floor with two patient rooms and a waiting area. In addition, a spacious outdoor plaza was renovated as part of the project’s scope, bringing the total square footage to around 7,000 SF. The 2nd floor of both additions remains shell space for later use by the hospital.
