The 8th floor patient wings and core area of Memorial Regional Hospital’s North and South Towers were remodeled for infrastructure upgrades and modern finishes throughout. Their 33-bed unit was expanded to accommodate 53-beds, and features additional private birthing suites to meet community demand. The renovations also included two nurseries, a pharmacy and lab, and two separate nurse stations. The nurseries were furnished with new incubators and a state-of-the-art security system, including a mantrap to guard against infant kidnappings. This technology will be of utmost importance to keep newborns protected and safe.
Constructed under ICRA Class IV standards and AHCA-inspected, the renovations encompassed 35,826 SF. MEP systems replacement included a rooftop AHU. Construction took place during ongoing hospital activity, therefore the project was two-phased, requiring maximum coordination to assure minimal inconveniences to patients, visitors and medical staff.
