This project consisted of the construction of a new two-story 45,000 SF building that offers new workforce training programs and expands existing programmatic capabilities for the Upper Keys residents. This project was made possible by a grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA). Also, this academic facility houses a STEM program, which consists of wet science labs with exhaust hoods, as well as simulation labs. The exterior envelope is 12” thick concrete tilt-wall system to withstand 200 mph winds, and the floor system is 12” thick concrete hollow-core framing system to withstand the heavy loads for the proposed equipment and act as a diaphragm for the building structure.
